Having built many off-road vehicles over the past 25
years, including several Land Cruisers, Larry has been
known for his unique vehicle configurations. As the owner
of Dirty Parts, Inc, in Los Angeles, CA , he is a "kid in
a candy store" with access to almost any part or accessory
available. And when Toyota released the FJ Cruiser
in March, 2006, it was love at first sight.
Starting with the suspension, Larry installed Donahoe Coilovers
and Billet UCAs, OME rear springs, Sway-A-Way Racerunner rear shocks,
All-Pro rear UCA and LCAs, Overland XT sway bar links, S/S brake
lines front and rear, and Light Racing Jounce hydraulic bump stops.
For protection, nothing less than a complete BudBuilt skid plate set
would do, along with an All-Pro rear Diff Protector.
Custom Lower control arm skid plates were welded on.
And Pro-Comp Xtreme Mud Terrain tires on
Xtreme Alloy 7089 wheels complete the undercarraige.
Demello rock sliders, front ARB bumper and rear Warn bumper
protect the FJC, and along with a Gobi Ranger roof rack,
provide platforms for the extensive light system: four
Acro HID lights up top, and four PIAA HIDs up front,
four PIAA floods (2 side / 2 rear), and 6 underbody lights
help this FJC find its way in the dark. And front and
rear cameras with infrared LEDs help with visual sighting
day and night. LED strobes help this FJC be seen in the
desert dust, or in the dark of night. Scepter mil-spec fuel
and water cans help provide for those longer excursions,
along with an ARB awning, and complete assortment of tools,
including an ARB Air Jack, Hi-Lift, Axe, Shovel, and hand tools, too.
Inside, a Garmin 2730 GPS and a Lorance Baja 540 GPS help
Larry's rig find it's way anywhere it goes, and an ARB Freezer
Fridge keeps food and drink at the ready on the trail. For
communications, a Yeasu ham radios, GMRS / FRS radios,
a Midland CB, and a GlobalStar satellite phone keep Larry
in touch with the outside world. A Dirty Parts dual battery
system utilizing Odyssey batteries provide the backup power
for all the accessories, and complete switching systems
allow quick access to all features.
For emergencies, a Warn XS9500i winch, with wireless
Dirty Parts310-390-9086
remote control and Winchline synthetic rope, is mounted
in the ARB front bumper. Powertank CO2 tank and an ARB air compressor,
Pelican boxes with tow straps, shackles, snatch blocks,
and other rescue equipment is at the ready when needed.
Toyota rear and ARB front locking diffs help this FJC stay out
of trouble, EBC performance brakes help Larry's cruiser stop when it must.
and the FJ Cruiser sales brochure for 2008, this FJ Cruiser
is easy to recognize. And having been all over the trails at Big Bear,
Stoddard Valley, Hungry Valley, Anza Borrego, Octillo Wells, TruckHaven,
Calico, Arrowhead, Lockwood Valley, Oceano Dunes, and the Mojave desert,
Larry's FJc is truely "1 CRZY FJ" !!!
