Terry Bakers Toyota FJ Cruiser

After owning literally dozens of 4 wheel drive vehicles Terry
watched Toyota introduce the FJC in early 2006 and wanted one bad.
As an employee of All Pro Off Road in Hemet, Ca, he was selling parts
for the now popular FJ for a few months when he decided it was time
to sell his project at the time and buy one himself. Within 2 weeks
it was equipped with new All-Pro bumpers & a Warn 9.5XP Winch with
Masterpull synthetic rope, rock sliders, and other accessories and out
getting pinstriped at Borregofest. It was then brought back to the shop and
an OME lift installed, along with 35" BFG tires and new Walker Evans Beadlock rims.
After taking it out on the trails a few more times and getting a feel for the OME
suspension, a better alternative was needed in the form of Walker Evans Racing coilovers
up front & reservoir shocks out back. The ride was much improved on road and
off road ability was greatly enhanced.

As new products were developed, Terry installed the All-Pro skid plates,
diff armor, e-locker guards & more to increase off road ability and safety.
After several months and trails later, All-Pro was in negotiations with
Fox Racing Shox to produce an exclusive shock for the FJ with the ultimate
in ride quality and durability. Terry’s FJ was the vehicle they were developed
on and the first to be equipped with the new dampers. They performed better than
expected and are now the flagship of the All-Pro suspension line. As time went
on, more modifications were added; HID headlight conversion outside, LED dome lights
inside, and an onboard air system consisting of a ViAir 450C compressor under the hood
feeding a Kilby 2.5gal air tank in back that allows not only tire inflation,
but power to a 152db train horn up front. All-Pro’s new modular roof rack was
installed up top for additional carrying capacity for long wheeling trips, along
with a set of 4 PIAA 2100 series driving lights up top. A Flowmaster muffler was
installed along with an All-Pro high clearance tailpipe to tuck everything up
nice & tight, and a Toyota cyclonic pre-filter in the intake to help the filters
last in dusty desert conditions. Since it was an early production model, an A-TRAC hack
was performed for added traction, along with VSC cutoff switches for more fun in the sand.
Currently an ARB air locker is being prepared for the front differential so
traction will never be a problem, and a secret savings fund will be started
soon for an Atlas 4 transfer case for the ultimate in crawl gears.

To date, Terry’s FJ has run trails in Big Bear, Anza Borrego,
Ocotillo Wells, Stoddard Wells & Sedona, AZ. Current plans for
2008 include Calico, The Hammers in March, more Arizona wheeling,
Rubicon in the Summer and more for the fall & winter. Future upgrades
include a rear storage drawer system and GPS tablet navigation for
exploration. This FJ was built to be used, and even though it has
been featured in 4x4 Builder Magazine and in trail articles
in Off Road magazine, it will continue to be built to evolve into
the ultimate IFS rock crawler until the time comes for an SAS
swap down the road. If you have any questions on this rig or
building your own FJ just give Terry a call, he’ll be happy to help you out.
